BLUES WORKSHOPS WITH RUTH HOFFMAN

Sunday October 30th 
5-6pm Blues Turns and Illusions Come learn some fancy blues turns and impressive lunges. Follows, we'll explore decorating movement within the framework of following. Leads, make your movements silky and smooth, while maintaining a pulse. We'll make the fancy stuff look and feel effortless.

6-7pm Stealin' from Tango For Yo' Blues We will explore ways of stealing movements from Tango and "Bluesifying" them. This is not just another ocho class... We'll borrow boleos, giros, and embellishments, and play with contrast in style and musicality. Watch the legs fly!
7-8pm Smooth, Floating and Flying Partnered Modern Dance Wonder how to dance when a song comes on without an obvious pulse? In this class you'll learn adaptations of modern dance turns, leans and jumps for a lead/follow partnership, and find moments of suspension where you feel like you're floating. Finally, you won't feel lost when someone plays "Hallelujah" or "Hide and Seek!"

ABOUT RUTH:
Ruth skipped into her first dance class more than 25 years ago, and has since been dancing as many styles as she can get her feet on. After studying dance and music in college, Ruth relocated to NYC, where she continued her obsession, including performing in a black tutu off-off Broadway.
